oN WEDNESDAY hISTORY GOES ON WITH A unique CHANGE IN STYLE THIS WEEK AS WE HOST dj madoka...

MADOKA BIO
New York-based Mark Venneri has been developing a distinct vision of his musical future since he was first introduced to the underground at a warehouse party in Philadelphia in early 1991. It was just a matter of time before he strengthened his love for the powerful music he heard every weekend and decided to try his hand as a DJ, and eventually, as a producer. Whether he was commanding a clubıs booth, molding intense soundscapes during a live PA or broadcasting his college-radio show entitled Grooveshop, Mark has always been a true innovator. While he remained relatively quiet in these roles for almost a decade in the United States, he felt it was finally time to take his unique sound to the international masses in 2000. With his newly formed artist moniker Madoka, he began his journey and hoped to achieve such a goal.

Mark spent nearly a year refining the quality of his music and crafting the new direction of his original sound. He materialized his ideas by the spring of 2001, and the creative restructuring resulted in his initial body of work entitled MyCity EP. With a solid production effort now under his belt, he introduced his own uniquely deep, moody and throbbing style--molding house and trance into a new, twisted formula. As a result of shopping around MyCity to top labels and DJs, he started to receive valuable feedback, including a call from Plastic Fantastic Records in the UK. They seized the opportunity and signed Madoka's first track entitled "Dive". The tune would eventually be paired with a Mo Shic and Zidan remix, and Mark used the accomplishment as creative fuel.

His next batch of songs was quickly picked up. "Cabaret" was licensed to Vapourized Volume 3 and was signed to Dutch label Deep Records along with the single "If We Begin". "Slightly Forward" followed, and was handed over to SAW Recordings under the exclusive Akodama name. The single was released to critical acclaim in spring 2002, and the Trendroid remix was licensed to Kinetic for their sixth installment of the Transport series.

During this time, Mark was also thrilled to accept what he considered to be the opportunity of a lifetime for his own Private Reality imprint. In early 2002, he announced an agreement with Andy Jarrod, Director of 3 Beat Label Management, encompassing the manufacturing, distribution and promotional details of future releases and becoming part of the groupıs impressive stable of leading labels. Although Mark officially announced the creation of Private Reality back in 1998, and already managed to independently distribute 500 units of his debut EP entitled "Confessions of a DJ", he was excited to write a new chapter in his labelıs ongoing saga.

With the success of his first two Private Reality records "Coppola," with its flip-side "Temperamental" licensed to Slinky Planet: Tokyo, and critically-acclaimed "Mass," Mark firmly set the foundation of his profile. He followed-up with his own ³Distant Memories² and had Matthew Dekay rework the track. Young Dutch producer Bart van Wissen then became the labelıs first outside addition to the artist roster, unleashing his monster ³Unforeseen² complemented by its peak-time Madoka remix.

The Madoka name is hitting the charts once again with new originals such as ³Drift" (Metamotional Music) and "Uncommon Distractions" (Metamotional Music). In 2004, his ³Plataforma² (Release Elements) was licensed to Kazellıs Driven, while both "Altered" and "Afterburner" scored a spot on Max Grahamıs Shine compilation. Madoka's previously unreleased remixes "First Class, Free Drinks Rub" breaks mix of Matthew Dekay's "If I Could Fly" (Deep Records) and the dub version of Powerplant's "Turn It Into Gold" (Deep Records) were also featured on Steve Gerrard's Thinking Out Loud (Nascent) compilation in 2004. More recently, "Altered" has appeared on DJ19's Addictive Asia: Gate2 (S2S Pte Ltd.) DJ Mix.

Building on the excitement of reworking Automagicıs ³Iıll Be Here² (Definity Records) and ³If I Could Fly² in past years, Madoka continues to establish production credibility. His latest interpretations of Clubbervision's "Paz" (Private Reality), Bart van Wissen's stunning "Electric" (Private Reality), and his "Saturation Generation" mixes of Brahma's "Submerged" (Babylon Records) are all strengthening his reputation for turning out solid remix packages. He also introduced his break-beat talent with mixes of Blue Room Projectıs ³5B² (Hunya Munya), last year's "Turn It Into Gold" and some original pieces entitled ³Howıs It Feel?² and "Down Embarcadero".

Madoka has maintained solid support in 2005 ranging from a diverse list of upfront veterans across the globe such as: Max Graham, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Paul Oakenfold, Mo Shic, Matthew Dekay, Jonathan Ojeda, Troy Roberts, Pole Folder, Steven Caicedo, MV, Greg Benz, James Holden, Kazell, Sandra Collins, Chris Fortier, James Zabiela, Steve Gerrard, Anthony Pappa, Spesh, Jonathan Lisle and teams Pako & Frederik and Gabriel & Dresden.

Additionally, Mark has received proper media attention as Madoka and Akodama, with past reviews appearing in all the biggest scene magazines and with interviews conducted on a variety of portal websites. He continues to explore new musical flavors, unleashing fresh original material written under new pseudonyms such as Leroy Carroll, Clerk 33 and HHT. 2005 also marks the return of Madoka to the DJ arena, booking some of his first international gigs and setting up a live performance of his original material for future shows.
